Toyota Gives $3 Million in Relief for Hurricane Harvey
After the recent hurricane (Harvey) in Texas, Toyota Motor North America is partnering up with Toyota Financial Services, The Friedkin Group, Gulf States Toyota and Toyota & Lexus dealers nationwide to provide relief effort of $3 million to those affected by Hurricane Harvey (Toyota – USA Newsroom).
The relief efforts include funds that will be donated to organizations such as the St. Bernard Project and American Red Cross, volunteerism, and donations of pre-owned vehicles (Toyota – USE Newsroom).
CEO of Toyota Motor North America, Jim Lentz, says Toyota would like to help as much as possible with the recovery of the hurricane. Jim states Toyota is working with numerous organizations to provide help where it is needed (Toyota – USA Newsroom). Chairman of Gulf States Toyota, Dan Friedkin, established the Friedkin Disaster Relief Fund and will provide at least $1 million from the Friedkin Family.
TFS has recently announced that both Toyota and Lexus Financial Services will donate pre-owned Toyota and Lexus vehicles to organizations that are involved with moving people and property in recovery efforts (Toyota – USA Newsroom). Having access to reliable transportation during recovery efforts is very critical.
The different approaches Toyota is currently working on to help those in need affected by Hurricane Harvey include American Red Cross, St. Bernard Project (SBP), TFS/LFS Payment Relief Program, TFS/LFS Vehicle Donations, TMNA/Friedkin Group Dealer Match Program, JM Family / Southeast Toyota Distributors (SET), TMNA Dealer Match Program, Toyota Team Member Contributions, Evacuee shelters in Dallas and Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas.
American Red Cross efforts will include helping secure necessities such as food, clothing, prescriptions, etc. St. Bernard Project will provide disaster resilience training and rebuilding in communities affected. It is currently deploying people in South Texas to help with services such as helping victims to negotiate Federal dollars, avoiding contractor fraud, and educating victims on mold remediation (Toyota – USA Newsroom).
TFS/LFS Payment Relief Program is a payment relief program for Toyota and Lexus customers affected by Hurricane Harvey. Lease and finance customers who live in affected areas can be eligible to take advantage of different payment options; such as lease deferred payments or redirecting billing statements (Toyota – USA Newsroom).
TFS/LFS Vehicle Donations will provide donated pre-owned Toyota and Lexus vehicles to those helping move people and property. TMNA/Friedkin Group Dealer Match Program will be available for Toyota and Lexus dealers who would like to contribute to the Friedkin Group Relief Fund. TMNA will match Toyota and Lexus dealer contributions up to $250,000 (Toyota- USA Newsroom). JM Family / Southeast Toyota Distributors is making a $100,000 donation to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund. TMNA Dealer Match Program will be available for Toyota and Lexus dealers that want to contribute to relief efforts and organizations tied to Hurricane Harvey, and TMNA will match up to $10,000 (Toyota – USA Newsroom).
Toyota Team Member Contributions will consist of Toyota matching all team member contributions throughout the United States. Evacuee shelters in Dallas will consist of TMNA and TFS engaging its Plano-based team members to meet the needs of victims of Hurricane Harvey in locations such as the Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center in Dallas. Lastly, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Texas will consist of team members at the plant to volunteer in local communities, blood drives, and provide in-kind donations (Toyota – USA Newsroom).
