The 2018 Toyota Camry: Emotionally Charged Design & Performance Experience

January 17th, 2017 by

For the past 15 years, the Toyota Camry has remained at the number one spot as the best-selling car in America. The new 2018 Camry has gone through a complete transformation; from what was a proven and dependable car, to an emotional and exciting car. The Toyota Camry still retains all of Toyota’s traditional values such as build quality and safety, while adding in a fun driving experience for all senses. A new engine, transmission, and GA-K platform are just some of the new physical features added onto the 2018 Toyota Camry.

More advanced technology, a jaw-dropping design, cutting-edge safety systems, and stirring performance will be sure to make each adventure in the 2018 Toyota Camry endless. The new design of the Camry is a concept to achieve strong harmony of refinement and an athletic image, taking the sedan into a beautiful new direction.

The three primary design goals of the new Toyota Camry consisted of: “a distinctive, low center of gravity that results in a firm wide stance; a practical-yet-emotionally styled cabin profile, and a sporty and upscale image both inside and out.” (Toyota Newsroom, 2017.) With these three goals, the sedan has an exciting new look and is more exciting to drive.

The 2018 Toyota Camry’s two-piece grille is a key element of the Camry’s “Keen Design” look, along with its 1.6-inch hood that sits above the grille’s uppermost section. The design team was able to reduce the sedan’s overall vehicle height by lowering the hip points of the occupants. A low center of gravity is proven by the lower hip point, shoulder line, roof line and hood height. The expressive and energetic sedan gets close to the ground forming an energetic silhouette.

The new 2018 Toyota Camry will be available in trims LE, XLE, SE, and XSE. The SE and XSE “sport” trims, have a different body style than the LE and XLE. A sculpted rocker panel highlights the body, with new 19-inch black alloy wheels, a rear spoiler lip, an aggressive front bumper, and a rear bumper with an integrated lower diffuser (Toyota Newsroom).

The interior of the new 2018 Toyota Camry offers a high degree of personal space and craftsmanship. A sense of openness and freedom is offered, resulting from an innovative dashboard design. The surfaces throughout the cabin, including dashboard, instrument panel, center console, and door trim, use the highest grade of soft touch and premium materials (Toyota Newsroom). The front seats include improved ergonomics, which provide maximum comfort and a level of ease and engagement. The exquisite stitching on both the front and rear-seat surfaces offers a high level of craftsmanship within the vehicle.

The Camry has now available three powertrains that include a new 3.5L liter V6 with D-4S Fuel Injection and an all-new 2.5-liter inline-4 gasoline engine (Toyota Newsroom). Toyota engineers have developed the all-new 2.5-liter 4-cylinder Dynamic Force Engine that will make the most use of the platforms new designs and rigidity (Toyota Newsroom). Higher torque, higher power, and lower fuel consumption are mainly focused on within the new generation engine.

The Toyota Camry is sold in more than 100 countries, and is the most popular mid-size sedan in the world. You can expect the new 2018 Toyota Camry to hit dealers in the late summer of 2017.
