National Minority Supplier Development Council Recognizes Toyota as ‘Corporation of the Year’
Toyota was presented with the National Minority Supplier Development Council Corporation of the Year award at the Conference and Business Opportunity Exchange held in Detroit, Michigan. Throughout NMSDC’s 45-year history, Toyota is one of four corporations to win ‘corporation of the year’ more than three times (TOYOTA – USA NEWSROOM). With over 300 diverse suppliers, Toyota spends over $3 billion and Toyota’s suppliers spend close to $1 billion with over 1,500 diverse suppliers at Tier 2 level (TOYOTA – USA NEWSROOM).
Toyota North America R&D group vice president, Robert Young, stated that this recognition reflects the strong work being done across North America to enhance sourcing practices and collaboration with Toyota’s supplier partners (TOYOTA – USA NEWSROOM).
The National Minority Supplier Development Council’s Conference includes more than 6,000 corporate CEO’s, procurement executives and supplier diversity professionals from the top multinational companies and organizations, and leading business owners. They gather to re-energize their efforts to develop and advocate for more participation in global corporate supply chains (TOYOTA – USA NEWSROOM).
Detroit was economically impacted by this conference; $7.5 million with an estimate of more than $1 million in state and local taxes along with more than 1,400 jobs supported (TOYOTA – USA NEWSROOM).
