All-New 2020 Toyota Highlander to Premiere at NY International Auto Show
The next-generation 2020 Toyota Highlander will be debuting at the New York International Auto Show this month. Toyota’s Fourth Generation SUV is redesigned from the ground up; featuring standard Android Auto™, Apple CarPlay®, SiriusXM®, Waze and Amazon Alexa Compatibility, Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 Standard (TSS 2.0) and available 7 or 8-Passenger Seating. The 2020 Toyota Highlander is expected to hit dealers this December, while the 2020 Highlander Hybrid won’t be available until February of 2020.
The All-New Highlander gives a powerful first impression, featuring a new bold and distinctive design to a foundation that is built on safety, comfort, quality, durability and reliability. The Highlander will combine a powerful SUV presence with sophisticated detailing (Toyota – USA Newsroom).
The athletic new shape with chiseled lines gives the Highlander a powerful stance, but with a sophisticated attitude. With an additional third-row, the SUV features capability for bigger family adventures (Toyota – USA Newsroom). Grade levels L, LE, and XLE feature a black front grille with silver trim. The Limited and Platinum grades feature a black grille with chrome trim and chrome-plated lower rear fascia, as well as premium projector headlamps and 20-inch alloy wheels (Toyota – USA Newsroom). The new L grade is only available on Highlander gas version.
The 2020 Toyota Highlander will have 5 new exterior colors to choose from. They will continue 3 colors from the 2019 edition; including Blizzard Pearl, Celestial Silver Metallic and Midnight Black Metallic, but will add Magnetic Gray Metallic, Moon Dust, Ruby Flare Pearl, Blueprint and Opulent Amber (Toyota – USA Newsroom).
The 2020 Toyota Highlander offers a powerful V6 or new-generation hybrid power-train. The gas version offers a manufacturer-estimated 22 MPG combined fuel economy and the Hybrid version offers a manufacturer-estimated 34 MPG combined fuel economy (Toyota – USA Newsroom). The new-generation Highlander Hybrid System combines a high-efficiency 2.5-liter DOHC four-cylinder engine with two electric motors in a system, making it more compact and more efficient than ever before (Toyota – USA Newsroom).
The All-New 2020 Toyota Highlander will have a choice of front-wheel drive or three different available all-wheel drive systems – two for V6 models and an AWD system for the Hybrid. Highlander Gas L, LE and XLE models will have an optional AWD system that can send up to 50% of available torque to the rear wheels to counter wheel slip (Toyota – USA Newsroom).
As far as interior tech features, the All-New 2020 Toyota Highlander will feature a Toyota-first 12.3-inch touchscreen that is compatible with both Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay®. Lower trim models will still feature a 8.0-inch infotainment screen (MOTORTREND). The JBL® Premium Audio System is standard on both Limited and Platinum grades and plays music of all genres with 1,200 watts of power playing through 11 speakers in nine different locations (Toyota – USA Newsroom).
