Overview
Land Cruiser is a heritage model from Toyota. With a history dating to over half-a-century, Land Cruiser full-size SUV is a part of Toyota's folklore now. The Land Cruiser is famous throughout the world for its ability to traverse the most difficult terrain and the 2011 Toyota Land Cruiser offers XM NavTraffic to better deal with traffic congestion. Further, XM NavTraffic is part of the Land Cruiser's satellite radio feature that includes a 90-day trial subscription to XM Satellite Radio. Being a true-blue luxury SUV, the Land Cruiser takes on other major players in this segment, such as Mercedes-Benz M Class and Mercedes GL-Class; Land Rover Range Rover Sport and the Porsche Cayenne S.
Powertrain And Performance
The 2011 Toyota Land Cruiser draws its strength from a new generation 5.7-liter; DOHC; 32-valve; EFI V8; dual independent VVT-i engine that pumps out 381 horsepower and 401 lb ft of torque. While a four-wheel drive configuration is standard, the engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine comes with a Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System.
Build And Styling
The 2011 Toyota Land Cruiser is built for great off-road capacities. It is a truck-based large size sport utility vehicle. Among the interiors it is given, 10-way driver and eight-way front passenger power-adjustable heated leather-trimmed seats with armrests and adjustable headrests; a power tilt and telescopic leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated audio and multi-function display controls and a JBL AM/FM 6-disc in-dash CD changer with 14 speakers and FM diversity reception stand out. The audio system has standard USB port for iPod connectivity through an auxiliary music source, and Bluetooth wireless technology. This model has cargo space of 87.1 cubic feet. The 2011 Land Cruiser has a maximum towing capacity of 8500 lbs. Despite such features, the Land Cruiser is a difficult proposition to own, mainly because of the prohibitively high purchasing and running cost of this model. Its fuel economy of 13-18 mpg, even for a vehicle with as steep a tradition as this, makes it almost unaffordable.
Safety Features
Toyota's Safety Connect Telematics system is standard on the Land Cruiser. This facility can dispatch emergency responders in the event of certain severe collisions and also provides a number of other vital services, including stolen vehicle tracking. The Toyota Land Cruiser is given Toyota's Star Safety System, which has enhanced vehicle stability control with cutoff switch plus traction control, anti-lock brake system with electronic brake-force distribution and brake assist. It also comes with ten airbags for safety and security of the driver and passengers; side curtain airbags for all three rows, front-seat active head restraints; tire-pressure monitoring system; active front headrests for whiplash protection and vehicle stability control.
