Camry Hybrid wins its first motorsport title

Camry Hybrid was the first and only vehicle of its kind to enter this year's Targa Tasmania event

Dorchester, MA, May 12, 2010 - The Australian built 2010 Toyota Camry Hybrid has claimed a class victory in this year's Targa Tasmania in its world motorsport debut.

At the event, the Camry Hybrid's overall fuel economy was just 8.0 liters per 100km. The class-winner Camry Hybrid covered more than 2000km, including competitive stages where speeds reached more than 180 km/h. The Camry Hybrid, taking part in this event of international importance, was instantly recognizable on the roads of Tasmania as it was full of thousands of signatures of Toyota employees involved in building and selling it in Australia.
